Has something happened in your life that’s causing you to question the way it’s going? Maybe it’s a nagging feeling, a tragic event that changes your views, or just a sense that there has to be something more to life? You may have had an encounter with Jesus! Jesus doesn’t “live” only in church buildings. Jesus meets you right where you are, and calls you to him. He may show up in a chance meeting with someone, a kind word, or something else you never expected. Your event may be different than anyone else’s, but the important part is deciding what do do with the experience. (Hint: Look toward Jesus, he’s waiting for you).

Combining teaching, praise, and fellowship, our Sunday mornings are intended to be both welcoming to newcomers and impactful for all. If you have never been to a church before (or not in a long time), no worries. We were new at one point too! We hope you will come as you are, and leave changed - by Jesus of course!

Scheduled throughout the year, the goal is to get to know church leaders & their families - and for them to get to know you. Don’t be surprised if one of our leaders walks up and invites you 😉

We believe following Jesus is more than showing up on Sundays, or knowing a a lot of “stuff” about Jesus. “Step in” is our way of inviting you to get involved - where ever you are. Join the welcome team, assist with projects, or help at encounter events. These are great places to experience more of church life.

This is four week introduction to our core beliefs, identity, apprenticeship and involvement pathways. If you think this might be the “home” Jesus is leading you to at this time in your life, this is a GREAT way to dig deeper & start planting roots!

Foundations classes are held every 3 months or so, usually on four consecutive Sunday afternoons. Watch for announcements or let the Alecia in the office know you are interested.

Salvation is both an event and a process: it is an accomplished fact, a continuing walk, and a future hope. Always the gift of God, salvation is received by repentance from sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, both witnessed to through water baptism. In faithfulness to His promises, God adopts believers as His children, forgiving their sins and giving them His Holy Spirit. They in turn demonstrate their faith by obeying the commands of Christ and following His example in daily living. Scripture uses various terms to describe aspects of salvation, but ultimately it means Christ-likeness conformity to the image of God’s Son by the work of His Spirit within us. To that end we are kept by the power of God, which operates through our faith.

Baptism is a public declaration of our faith in Jesus by a physical, symbolic act of surrender. There is nothing “special” about the water, but if we are truly announcing our trust in Jesus, then it is a powerful statement and a life changing choice. We believe the scripture teaches this is next step in our walk with the Lord. It’s a bit like a marriage ceremony for all to see.

We usually have the baptistry full and warmed up every Sunday morning. If you’d like more information, please contact Pastor Rob or one of the Deacons.

God speaks through the Bible in a unique and powerful way. Centering on Jesus Christ as the living Word of God, the Holy Spirit progressively revealed God’s one plan of salvation in Christ from its first promise in the Old Testament to its fulfillment in the New. Given in human words in history, the Scriptures of both Testaments are the inspired Word of God, authoritative, trustworthy, and true in every respect. The New Testament, witnessing to the climax of that history, is the final rule of faith and life for the church. As an expression of grateful love to God, Brethren believe and obey the Bible, for only the written Word reveals to us Jesus Christ, the living Word.

This 4 week course provides some basic tools for learning to hear Him. You will learn how to approach God’s word, what questions to ask, what translation is right for you, and even some tools to dig deeper on your own.

Jesus doesn’t need money to achieve his mission, but stewardship of God’s provision and investing in His mission are expressions of our growing trust in God. Often called “tithing” in the Old Testament, it’s far less about how much we are giving, than the heart of trust, gratitude and generosity behind it.

We believe that giving to the poor, the church, and the work of God in the world is an honor - and that God will use it better than we could on our own.

This is series of courses following Jesus’ example, where we learn and put into practice spiritual disciplines Jesus taught and lived by. Consider it “basic training” for a long, fruitful, transforming life with Jesus!

We offer classes throughout the year:

• An 8 Week “primer” (overview)
• 4 Weeks on each of 8 practices: Sabbath, Prayer, Fasting, Solitude, Generosity, Community, Service, & Witness.

From the beginning (like, THE beginning) God knew it wasn’t good for us to walk through life alone. When Jesus arrived, he put together an unexpected group of men, women, and families to learn, live, and change the world together. Forging strong, trusting, life changing relationships doesn’t happen in a large group. It happens when individuals are committed to walking a season of life together. LifeGroups are what we call small groups (typically 12 or less) of Christ followers coming together outside of Sunday @ 10am to share life, build trust, and change the world one life at a time.

Let’s be clear, you don’t have to be a “member” of a church to know Jesus. That said, commitment is a basic requirement to following Jesus. Church membership is public commitment to walk with and support both one another and Gretna’s mission during this season of your life. Church members have a greater voice in the direction we are heading as a group, not because we don’t value non-members, but because we have made a commitment to one another.

When Jesus was working with the disciples, he showed us the value of walking more closely with a small group of them than he did with the rest. A Gretna, we call that an A-Group (or, Apprenticeship Group) It’s a group of 3-4 of the same gender believers, helping one another grow in transformational ways. These are the deep relationship all of us need, but rarely find. Such groups require trust, transparency, and a commitment one another that goes well beyond normal friendships. A-Groups are essential to equipping apprentices of Jesus to go out and make more apprentices (we call the the Great Commission).

This is guided, 3-4 week period dedicated to discovering you spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, and putting your personal experiences to work for God and his mission.
